Nevada Governor Vetoes Domestic Partner Bill, As Expected

The bill allowing same-and-opposite-sex couples to become legal domestic partners has been slapped with a veto from Governor Jim Gibbons. The bill would have provided such couples many of the rights and privileges of married couples. However, Gibbons says it's goes against what voters in the state approved in the Protection of Marriage constitutional amendment in 2002. The bill's sponsor, Senator David Parks of Las Vegas, who's openly gay, says times have changed since the amendment. He says some polls indicate the public is behind domestic partner legislation.
