New Paltz, NY Pride Focuses on Gay Marriage

Pride was running high on Sunday as members of the LGBTQ (Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer) Community Center were joined by numerous participants and even more spectators as they held their fifth annual Pride March and Festival. The parade started with a rally in the parking lot of the New Paltz Middle School and continued down Main Street where the streets were crowded with supporters. LGBTQ Community Center President Ginny Apuzzo said there was one main theme for the day’s events. “This year we are really focusing on marriage and the family as you might expect,” she said. “Marriage is a key issue for us. It is the gateway to 1,324 rights that we don’t get currently in New York State.” Full Story from Mid Hudson News
