Mixner: No More $ for Politicians Who Don't Fully Support Gay Equality

A well-heeled Democratic fund-raiser is calling on donors to stop the "gay ATM" to politicians who don't fully support equality for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people. Once named the most powerful gay man in America by Newsweek, David Mixner is angered by the hands-off approach of President Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee concerning a failed ballot measure in Maine that would have allowed same-sex couples to marry. Mixner now thinks it's time to use the power of the purse to influence lawmakers. Full Story from Open Secrets: http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2009/11/angered-gay-democratic-donor-a.html

Mr. Mixner is right.

Nothing speaks louder to politicians than a room full of closed wallets.

It is, my personal opinion that as long as ANY person is treated by law as a second class citizen, this country can never hope to live up to it's true potential.

What is wrong with a country that will allow a serial killer, locked away for life to marry, yet not give the same right to law abiding citizens who just happen to be the same sex??
