CT: Gay Marriage One Year Later: 2,291 Couples Wed

Gay and lesbian couples celebrating the first anniversary of Connecticut's same-sex marriage law Thursday believe that soon the court-ordered civil-rights breakthrough will no longer be newsworthy. "To me the whole thing is both very, very important and very key to civil rights, but at the same time total anodyne and has no impact on society at large," says Martin Phillips, 48, of Stamford. After 16 years together, he and Darron Copeland, 43, senior tax manager at GE, were married Oct. 26 in Stamford's Government Center by Mayor Dannel Malloy.
