New Poll: Large Majority of Australian Gays Want Marriage

A MAJORITY of gay Australians would choose marriage over other forms of relationship, research has shown. A national survey of those attracted to the same sex undertaken by researchers at the University of Queensland (UQ) also found an overwhelming majority felt marriage should be an option for same-sex couples in Australia. Findings from the survey show that the majority (54.1 per cent) of same-sex attracted participants selected marriage as their personal choice and close to 80 per cent felt marriage should be an option for same-sex couples in Australia.
