Guam Rotarians Debate Gay Marriage Bill

A debate over domestic partnership and specifically Bill 185 continued at the Rotary Club of Guam's weekly luncheon where the notion of traditional marriage was put on the table. "I resent that I have to defend a relationship between someone I love and someone who loves me and defend our relationship with our children, said Bill Pesch. The introductory remarks from Pesch, an openly gay local attorney, set the tone for a debate making national headlines, how Guam will recognize same sex marriage. The domestic partnership bill introduced by Vice-Speaker BJ Cruz has sparked ongoing controversy all over the island and as part of the Rotary Club's weekly luncheon, members today were able to preview the debate in a more intimate setting. Pesch said, "Education and outreach can help erode ignorance while laws offer the legal framework to protect deserving minorities from blatant discrimination." Full Story from KUAM.com
