Equality Awards in LA Raise Cash for Gay Marriage Fight
While introducing himself to a packed ballroom at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles, Equality Awards Gala emcee Doug Spearman (pictured) said that having the majority of California deny him his right to marry simply sucked.
The Equality California fund-raiser featured A-listers like Dustin Lance Black, more than 750 people in black-tie-optional splendor, a band, lavish auction prizes, and a chromed-out, lazy Susan stage.
But cutting through it all, Spearman said, “Yup, it sucked. But that’s why we’re here today.”
