Staten Island's North Shore is about to get a little more colorful. Close to 100 representatives of the Human Rights Campaign, Marriage Equality will join Staten Island Assemblyman Matthew Titone (D-North Shore) at the Staten Island Ferry Terminal at Whitehall at 10:30 a.m. to symbolize the coming together of the boroughs.
With rainbow flags, banners and balloons, members of Staten Island's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community are gathering for the fifth annual Staten Island Pride Parade & Festival, which steps off at noon from the municipal parking lot on Central Avenue, St. George.
After winding through the streets of St. George, the parade -- which will include lawmakers, firefighters, the Big Apple Corps Marching Band and dozens of groups and marchers -- will culminate with a party featuring top-name entertainers at the Cromwell Recreation Center, Tompkinsville.
