As they proudly raised their flag of pride commemorating national pride month, members and supporters of the lesbian gay bisexual transgender and queer community reminded Binghamton of their growing presence and their desire for gay marriages to be recognized under the law.
"We're everywhere. We're all amongst you. We're your mother, your sister, your best friend. Gays and lesbians are everywhere and we deserve equal rights," said Sherry Eaton, a supporter of the bill.
But just a few hundred feet from the sea of rainbows, protestors voiced their opposition to the flag raising and shared their concerns for what they say legalizing gay marriage would mean for New York.
