NJ: Church Group to Attend Senate Committee Hearing in Support of Gay Marriage

The pastor, staff members and congregants of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship will attend a rally in Trenton in hopes of convincing state senators on the Judiciary Committee to vote in favor of gay marriage. The Rev. Alison B. Miller will travel with Kathy Brown, the church's director of religious education, to Trenton for a rally organized by Garden State Equality. State Sen. Ray Lesniak, D-Union, said Thursday that the Judiciary Committee will take up the issue on Monday. The group is encouraging people to attend the Judiciary Committee hearing to serve as public witnesses to support "marriage equality" legislation. The hearing starts at 1 p.m. "For me, it is a question of supporting all loving relationships," Miller said Friday. "The most powerful experiences I have had have been to officiate (civil unions)."
