NY: Gay Marriage Rally Draws Hundreds to Times Square

Hundreds showed up in Times Square on a rainy Wednesday night and stood behind a large banner labeled "Crime Scene" to express publicly their outrage at the State Senate's defeat of same-sex marriage in New York State. "Well, this is a crime scene. What they did in Albany today was a crime," said a protester. "We are beyond words, feelings about 38 senators telling me that because the person I love is not the gender they believe it should be, I can't marry that person," said another. "As a gay woman who is also black, I felt very disturbed at the trend this country is taking and not recognizing the rights of all of its citizens," said a third. Long-time partners David and Fred from Manhattan told NY1 they are waiting to tie the knot in the state where they live and that they want equal rights.
