OH: Representative Wants to Put Repeal of Gay Marriage Ban on Ballot

Rep. Tyrone Yates wants Ohioans to vote next May 4 on repealing the state’s ban on gay marriage. Yates, a Walnut Hills Democrat, introduced a resolution Tuesday to repeal the part of the constitution – added by voters in 2004 – that declared that only marriages between men and women can be recognized in Ohio. As the Dispatch reported yesterday, the chances for an actual vote in May are slim. Voters approved the gay marriage ban by a 23-point margin just five years ago. And just getting it on the ballot requires a three-fifths vote of each chamber. Full Story from Cincinnati.com: http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2009/11/11/yates-end-gay-marriage-ban/
