Gavin Newsom: 2010 May Not Be "the right time" for Prop 8 Repeal Attempt

In a week in which progressive and gay activists will decide whether to launch an effort in 2010 -- or wait until 2012 -- to repeal Prop. 8, San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom Tuesday cautioned he is "not convinced" such a movement can be successful next year. "We need to have consensus and..a strong foundation of support" to move forward in 2010, he told reporters in Santa Ana Tuesday. "And without that, it's probably not the right time."
