While Equality California and the Courage Campaign were slugging it out last week over whether to mount a Proposition 8 repeal in 2012 (EQCA) or 2010 (Courage), one of the state's largest grassroots marriage equality groups was split down the middle.
The membership of Marriage Equality USA, a national organization that has a strong California presence, is split on the timing of when to return to the ballot, spokeswoman Molly McKay told the Bay Area Reporter this week.
However, members "are united in our commitment to continue the essential work of local, sustained, direct outreach and education that will eventually restore marriage equality in California," McKay wrote in an e-mail.
