Starting August 3 Wisconsinites can register for domestic partnerships in the county where they live. In fact, it makes Wisconsin the first state with a constitutional ban on gay marriage make domestic partnerships legal.
Bayfield County Clerk Scott Fibert says that the fee will be $60 in Bayfield County. The fee changes from county to county. He says people should be prepared to bring a couple forms of ID.
“But you will need a birth certificate, a proof of residence because if you’re getting it in Bayfield County, we have to make sure that one of them or both of them live in Bayfield County.”
