Cast of "Hair" Cancels October 11th Show to Join March on Washington, DC

"By Any Means Necessary" just ran smack into "The Show Must Go On," and the latter blinked. The cast of the Tony-winning revival of Hair are cancelling their Sunday matinee performance on October 11 so they can stand with marriage equality supporters at the National Equality March in Washington, D.C. They'll add an performance on October 5 to make up for it, but Broadway schedules are usually as inviolable as phases of the moon, and not only for financial reasons; show people are very proud of keeping to performance schedules, so this is a real break with tradition and perhaps an emotional sacrifice for the actors as well. And we thought they weren't real hippies! Well, they could still use a little seasoning, and maybe the D.C. police will give it to them. Full Story from the Village Voice
