This Week's Woody Award:
This week's Woody award honors goes to Richard Kirk, who says on his blog: "Who would have suspected that a state Supreme Court majority of one would equate inherently barren same-sex relationships with male-female unions whose reproductive consequences are typically enormous?" but fails to take it the next logical step. If marriage is for procreation, when are you going to push for a law banning infertile couples from getting married? Can't have it both ways, Mister Kirk. And beyond the fact that calling gay and lesbian couples barren (can't lesbians get pregnant?) you also conveniently left out all the same sex couples raising the unwanted children of straight folks.Your attempt at logic is just a thin veneer over your disgust for and probable hatred of the GLBT community, so why not just come out and say it? At least you'd be honest. Enjoy your woody, Mister Kirk.
Runner up is conservative Tom McClintock in California, who said:
"Lincoln asked, 'If you call a tail a leg, how many legs has a dog? The answer is four. Calling a tail a leg doesn’t make it one,'" McClintock said in a statement. "And calling a homosexual partnership a marriage doesn’t make it one."
Sorry, Mister McClintock, no woody for you.
