Here's the latest news on gay marriage from around the world. In addition to the news of the week, we've added links to some great articles and columns from the last seven days, and of course you'll also find our ongoing recap of gay marriage happenings worldwide. To subscribe to this blog, or if you have any thoughts about how we can make this feature better or easier to use or any updates on the issues covered here, let me know at info@purpleunions.com. --Scott This Week's Woody Award:

This week's Woody award honors goes to Michael Medved, who in his 6/25 column called all lesbian families "fatherless households" and also includes this little chestnut: "The problem with the Jonathan Rauch prescription is that he seeks to heal the ills of gay male culture and relationships with a meaningless solution (a marriage license) at the same time that he ignores and in fact denies the one addition that makes a lasting, eternal difference – the melding of male and female in long-term, loving commitment." And so, somehow, he comes to the conclusion that straight marriage is ok, lesbian marriage is ok, but all gay relationships are inherently damaged. Whatever rationale you repugnicans can find to stop the progress of equal rights. Hey, maybe if the male dynamic is the issue, you should divorce your wife and find her a suitable lesbian replacement? If the shoe fits... enjoy your woody, Mr. Medved. Runner-up goes to David Benkhof, who assumes all gay men are in open relationships., based on a website he found. Yeah, and apparently Jesus appears on toast on a regular basis - amazing the riches of knowledge the internet can bring us. Congrats, Mr. Benkhof, sorry we don't have a trophy for you, too. And maybe you shouldn't believe everything you read on the 'net.
