The state's largest gay-rights group is opening its first office in western Riverside and San Bernardino counties today. San Francisco-based Equality California is holding a noon open house at the new office, 1410 Third St., Suite 7, in Riverside.
The office is another sign of efforts by the group to focus more intensely on conservative areas such as the Inland region, where Prop. 8 passed overwhelmingly last year and banned same-sex marriage.
Equality California seeks to overturn Prop. 8. The organization also opened field offices in Palm Springs, Fresno, San Diego, Sacramento, San Jose and West Hollywood this year and plans to open offices in Orange County and South Los Angeles, spokesman Jorge Amaro said.
