NY: Senate to Finally Vote on Gay Marriage Next Week?

A veteran New Jersey lawmaker says she's confident a same-sex marriage bill will make it to the floor when the legislature convenes for its lame duck session next week. WNYC's Bob Hennelly reports. REPORTER: State Senator Loretta Weinberg, who was Governor Corzine's running mate in his failed re-election bid, says she has personal commitments from Senate Judiciary panel Chairman Paul Sarlo and Senate Majority leader Steven Sweeney that the Marriage Equality Act will move forward when the State Senate comes back into session Monday. Neither Sweeney nor Sarlo could be reached for confirmation. For Sarlo that would amount to a reversal from just last week, when he said he would not move the bill because he did not believe it had the votes to get out of committee.
