Former City deputy mayor Gabriela Michetti (PRO) today said she "would not have authorized" same-sex marriage in the City of Buenos Aires, criticizing the decision of Mayor Mauricio Macri not to appeal against the ruling of a court allowing a gay couple to marry.
Michetti told reporters that "homosexual marriage and heterosexual marriage are not the same, and the stances of Mauricio (Macri) and the head of the Argentine Church, Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio, are not compatible."
The deputy-elect added that her relationship with Mauricio Macri would "never turn bad", as "he is like an uncle for (her) son and (she) is like an aunt for his children," she said. "The trust we share allows me to say what I think."
