A NORTHSIDE gay couple have called on the Government to continue making strides towards full equality for the gay community.
Following last Sunday’s march for full marriage rights, which saw a huge turnout, Killester couple Vladimir Dotsenko and Tim Dowling say it’s time for the Government to allow full marriage rights to all couples.
Mr Dotsenko (28), who is originally from Moscow, believes that the recent Civil Partnership Bill was a step in the right direction but that full marriage rights should be introduced.
He explained how living in Dublin has given him the freedom to express his sexuality that would not be afforded in Russia. “Here I work as a lecturer in Pure Maths at one of the city’s top colleges and am openly gay,” he explained. “But in Russia I could only let academics I worked with and other progressive minded people know and could never bring a partner to a work function.
