University of Arkansas May Offer Domestic Partner Benefits

The University of Arkansas System's three largest campuses have resurrected an effort to extend employee health insurance benefits to domestic partners and other nontraditional families. At least as far back as 1999, employee advocates at the system's flagship Fayetteville campus have been trying to get a broader definition of "family" in the system's self-insured health plan, but have been unsuccessful. Advocates at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville more recently have enlisted employees from the medical school and the Little Rock campus. Full Story from NWA News
